CHARLOTTE LONG-DISTANCE MOVING FAQ
We offer both in-home surveys and virtual walk-throughs to provide estimates for long-distance moves. For both options, your coordinator will go through your home with you room by room and assess what needs to be moved. If you choose an in-home estimate, we will set an appointment for a team member to meet with you at your home. They will perform the walk-through at a time that is convenient for you. If you prefer our virtual walk-through, you will simply use your smartphone or tablet to give our team a video walk-through of your home.
Once the walk-through of your choice is complete, you will have two options:
A non-binding estimate - the estimate is based on the total weight of your shipment. However, we will not know the exact weight until moving day, when all your items are loaded onto the truck.
A binding estimate - the cost of your move is given up front. So, if the final weight is above or below the estimate, you will only pay the rate we quoted to you.
We work hard to make sure your belongings survive your long distance move without incident. However, in the rare case that an item is damaged, your Suddath long distance move coordinator will be with you through the entire process. The coordinator will provide a claim form and have a claims representative will reach out to you within 24 hours.
Ideally, we recommend that you begin the process no later than two months before your desired move date.
