ORLANDO, FL MOVING FAQ
Our moving company offers two options and you would have to choose what's the best option for you. If you would like the minimum coverage which is at no cost, that coverage gets you $0.60 per pound per article. It is the most economical option that we have, but it only provides minimal protection.
In addition, we do offer full value protection if you would like to replace or have the item repaired to the condition that we received it in. If something were to be damaged, there is a cost for that but it's $6.00 per 10,000 lbs. So, if you have a 10,000 lb. shipment for example, you'll have $60,000 in coverage. Again though, the standard is $0.60 per lb. If something were to get damaged, it would get weighed, multiplied by the $0.60 and that's what you would be reimbursed for the claim.
Our Orlando, FL movers work hard to take care of your items. However, should there be a damaged item, you would get in touch with your Orlando move coordinator and ask for a claims form. You would fill that out and submit it back to them, and then that person will get it to our claims department where it will get assigned to an adjuster, and they will work with you on resolving your claim.
There are two options. We have a binding estimate, or a binding cost of these services specified in advance, that will give you the cost of the move, and then we have a non-binding estimate. A non-binding is used when you're not exactly sure what's moving. For example, you may not know yet if your daughter's going to move with you, or if the things in the garage are going. Non-binding leaves options open, but there could be additional charges if the weight goes higher than anticipated.

Part of our standard operating procedure at Suddath is, as soon as we come in and meet you, our movers are going to lay extensive floor protection. If you have hardwood floors, we're going to put down cardboard, we're going to wrap banisters, and if you have a main thoroughfare that's a stairway, it's going to get carpet shield. We have another neoprene-type rug runner we lay down in the area where we're going to operate the most, and door jamb covers to make sure doors don't get chipped up.
We wrap all of your furniture inside of your house before bringing it to the truck and do the same when we're at destination making delivery. Everything comes off the truck padded, into the designated area, unwrapped and placed in your desired location, minimizing the possibility of damages.

Our average tenure with our subcontractors runs about 11 years here with us. All of them are background checked, making sure we know who we're putting in your house. They go through extensive training before coming to your house. There's no on the job learning. That's for both our employee and sub-contractor personnel.
You would never know who's an employee and who's a contractor because they are an extension of us. All our contractors here are solely contracted with Suddath, so they're not at another Orlando, FL moving company one day and at Suddath the next.
There aren’t many common issues for moving in Orlando, but if you live in a high-rise building – or if we’re doing your commercial move – we will be making an elevator reservation with your building. Our movers check to make sure that the building has dock space or egress that would be solely dedicated to us, so we can do our job and not hold anyone else up.
Suddath offers a preplanned moving guide that is going to give you an eight-week timeline of things that you should be doing to get prepared for your move. Our moving company knows how stressful this can be in your life. They do an excellent job of letting you know that we're here, that we understand what we need to do and we're going to take care of your stuff. We're going to try to take the stress off your plate and we're going to handle this move the right way.
In Orlando, we have 10,000 square feet of climate-controlled storage space. From there, the primary difference between short- and long-term or permanent storage is the timeframe for which your items will be stored. For interstate moves, remember that short-term storage caps at 180 days.
In either case, your items will be stored in a fully-enclosed vault within our Orlando warehouse. With vault storage, our warehouse staff will carefully store and pad wrap your valuables in the container.
We have monthly safety meetings and quality meetings in Orlando to go over any new topics or standards. We also have Suddath University located at our headquarters in Jacksonville, where we send our crews and our drivers to get annual training. We also do that here at the facility, with our background checks and training on the U, which is an online class through Unigroup, for additional training opportunities.
Also, we have an extensive tenure with most of our staff in Central Florida, not only in the office but out working moves in Orlando. So, we lean on those folks a lot too to help the new people coming on board.

All commercial moving. If it moves, we move it. We have rigging, we have installation of commercial furniture. I mean anything that needs to happen associated with an office move or office building we can handle it.
We also do a lot of hospitality logistics projects, because Orlando has the second largest number of hotel rooms behind Vegas. Typically, with hotel and resort renovations, we go in and remove all the existing unwanted FF&E. If the hotel has a liquidator, we'll get it to the liquidator.
Then comes all the carpet and paint changes, so we will store all the new items – all the sofas, the new beds, everything that's going to go in that room. When it’s ready, we go in and hang the TV, we hang the artwork and the mirrors and then we place everything back in that room with all the brand-new furniture and when we leave, it's ready to be used.
