Your Suddath international move coordinator will help you understand the documents you will need to prepare, including the papers that will travel with your crates through the customs department of your new home country. Customs agents will use this paperwork to inspect the items in your shipment and make sure it’s all been cleared for passage across their borders.

We have a training facility that our drivers must go to and complete over 250 hours of hands-on training in our methods developed over the past century. It features multiple training rooms with different labs for technology, process training, and soft skills training. There is even a pre-fab apartment built into the warehouse where drivers must utilize their training for packing and loading containerized shipments. The program helps our San Jose and international movers excel at customer service while they’re executing your move.
Ideally, we recommend that you begin the process no later than four to five months before your desired move date overseas. International relocation has several layers of added complexity, so you want to give yourself plenty of time. It will require paperwork, visas, and cargo logistics set up before we start loading your belongings.
However, we understand that many people do not have that amount of time, and our expertise allows us to help you speed up the process while still ensuring you have everything in order and taken care of.
It is always our goal to make sure that your international relocation ends with no broken or damaged items. Our drivers and operators spend significant time in training at our own facility to ensure that it does not happen. They are trained in packing techniques, loading/unloading safety instructions, and any international moving procedures.
However, in an international move, your items are being processed and handled in ways outside of our control, for example, by customs officers. In the rare case that one of your items is damaged, your Suddath move coordinator will assist you with the process of documenting your broken things and submitting a claim. Once the form is completed, a claims representative will reach out to you within 24 hours.
