Industry Leader Scott Kelly to Retire at the End of January; COO Jamie McDaniel to Succeed in Role of President
JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (October 5) – The Suddath Companies today announced the planned retirement of Scott Kelly, President of SGS Move Management, effective January 31, 2027, following more than 30 years of distinguished service to the company.
Throughout his tenure, Kelly played a pivotal role in transforming Suddath Government Services, now SGS Move Management, into one of the nation’s premier providers of relocation and move management services for military families. He successfully guided the organization through multiple evolutions of the U.S. military’s personal property program while fostering a culture of innovation, adaptability, and operational excellence.
In addition to his business accomplishments, Kelly is recognized for building a strong, people-focused culture; his emphasis on teamwork, employee development, and long-term relationships helped establish the foundation for continued success across the organization.
After retiring from day-to-day operations, Kelly will continue to serve on The Suddath Companies Board of Directors, where he will remain an active contributor to the organization’s strategic direction. “Scott has been one of the most consequential leaders in our company’s history,” said Michael Brannigan, President and CEO of The Suddath Companies. “His leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our customers, employees, and industry have shaped SGS into the market leader it is today. While we will miss his day-to-day leadership, we are grateful he will continue to serve the company as a member of our Board of Directors.” The company also announced that Jamie McDaniel, currently Chief Operating Officer of SGS Move Management, will succeed Kelly as President upon the transition. During his more than 15 years with the company, he has developed extensive expertise in military relocation services, operations, and strategic growth while building strong relationships across the industry and supply chain network. “Jamie is an exceptional leader who embodies the values, customer focus, and entrepreneurial spirit that have defined SGS for decades,” said Brannigan. “He is well positioned to build on the strong foundation established by Scott and continue driving
growth, innovation, and service excellence for our customers and partners.” To ensure a seamless leadership transition, Kelly and McDaniel will spend the coming months meeting with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders. The transition process will culminate with a planned industry and partner gathering in Jacksonville in January 2027. “Scott leaves an extraordinary legacy that will continue to influence SGS and our industry for years to come,” added Steve Suddath, Chairman and Owner of The Suddath Companies. “We thank him for his remarkable contributions and congratulate Jamie on this well-earned opportunity to lead SGS into its next chapter.”
