Member Preferred TSP
What is Member Preferred TSP?
Member Preferred TSP is a new enhancement within the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) that gives service members a choice in who manages their household goods move. This option allows you to request a Transportation Service Provider (TSP) you know and trust during the counseling process, rather than relying only on an automated assignment.
Why this matters
Moving is personal. Many service members have past experiences, good or bad, with moving companies. Member Preferred TSP gives you the opportunity to:
- Request a TSP you’ve had a positive experience with or that is part of a trusted network
- Choose a provider with a proven track record supporting military moves
- Feel more confident knowing your move is aligned with a reliable, experienced team
Working with an established, experienced provider like Suddath (SGS Move Management) helps ensure consistency, visibility, and support throughout your move.
How it works
During counseling in DPS, you can enter the name of your preferred TSP directly in the Counseling Module, including trusted TSPs like Suddath (SGS Move Management). DPS will record your request as a Member Requested Preferred TSP.
It’s important to note that:
- All shipments are still awarded in accordance with DPS business rules
- Each TSP is identified within DPS as a unique four letter SCAC code (e.g., SUVL)
- Not every request can be guaranteed, but your preference is formally documented and considered
Pro Tip: Be Prepared Before Counseling
Have your preferred TSP name and SCAC code ready before your DPS session. If you plan to request Suddath (SGS Move Management), entering the correct SCAC helps ensure your request is captured accurately and reduces the risk of delays.
How to Book with Suddath (SGS Move Management)
Suddath (SGS Move Management) is a trusted provider supporting military moves worldwide, offering consistent service, visibility, and customer support throughout the process.
When booking your move, you will be given the opportunity to choose which TSP to select during counseling via their four letter SCAC code.
What is a SCAC code?
A SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) is a unique four-letter code used in DPS to identify the Transportation Service Provider managing your move. Selecting the correct SCAC helps ensure your shipment is assigned to the right company.
