1.Do I need valuation coverage?

I would suggest coverage of some kind. You should understand that if you don’t add on valuation coverage, your goods are automatically insured for .60 per lb. per article. Meaning that an item weighing 100 lbs. would be worth $60 in insurance, in rare event it were to be damaged. With valuation you can get full value protection if that item is worth more than .60 per lb. It’s important also to understand the difference between valuation coverage and 3rd party insurance coverage. Typical 3rd party coverage does not cover transit-related claims.

2.Can you help me move my pets?

Yes, we can. Although we don’t personally move your pets, we work with a company called Air Animal. They have provided pet relocations for our customers for years. We also have several tips on our Suddath website about how to manage pets during your move, that can provide helpful information if you decide to move your pets yourself.

3.Can Suddath move my car?

Yes, we can. Suddath is an agent for United Van Lines, and United provides us with preferred vendors to help with the relocation of automobiles for our valued customers. Your move coordinator will work direct with United to provide a quote, along with pickup and delivery information, to assist you with this service request.

4.Can I choose any day to load my stuff?

Yes, you have the option to choose any day you would like to have your items loaded. We do, however, offer some tips on choosing your move date. Because Suddath takes safety seriously, we generally try to avoid loading on Sundays. This gives our Van Operators and service crew members time to rest and reset their hours of service clock. Also, in most cases, it’s cheaper to move on weekdays like a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. This option gives you a chance to save a few hard-earned dollars.      

And while you can choose any day to load your items, your move coordinator will discuss a delivery window with you for when they will be unloaded in your new destination. 

5.What is a common issue for moving in Dallas and how do you deal with it?

Typical issues we consider as a Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex moving company include the need to use shuttles in areas where our larger trucks may not be able to go, elevator reservations when moving to downtown areas, parking permits and covering a very widespread area. 

However, our local coordinators are very familiar and knowledgeable in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and can provide you with any information or guidance you may need in your move.    

6.What if you break something? How do I submit a claim?

In the unfortunate event that an item is damaged, your move coordinator will guide you through the process of filing a claim. Once submitted to Suddath’s claims department, a claims adjuster will be assigned as a single POC to expedite your claim. This process will be tailored to your schedule to minimize any interruptions into your personal time.

7.What are my different options for an estimate? How can you simplify the process for me?

This depends on the customer’s needs and budget. To start off, we offer both in-home and virtual walkthrough survey options. Either can be set up at your convenience, but I would suggest an in-home survey if you have a larger move. However, a virtual walkthrough can be done on your phone or tablet, and can be more expedient if you have a busy schedule. 

Within those, we can also provide full-service estimates to include: full pack/unpack services, maid service, automobile relocation, storage, etc. 

To help on your relocation cost if you’re more budget-conscious, we can provide estimates for partial or custom packs, containerization program, and local hourly estimates to include full service relocation, down to the moving of large items only. We have several different options to meet your needs, whatever they may be.   

8.I’m looking to move internationally. How can Suddath help?

Yes, we are very experienced in handling your international moving needs. You would be assigned a personal move counselor who’s available to answer questions and help you reach your destination as quickly as possible. Your single-point-of-contact will guide you through the entire process including customs and documentation, international insurance coverage options, and oversee all the logistics associated with your move. At destination, Suddath partners with best-in-class, overseas agents to ensure your goods are handled with care. 

9.What do you do to ensure my items and property are safe and secure during the moving process?

As a local moving company, Suddath takes safety and quality personally. Our Van Operators and service crew members go through an extensive training course prior to servicing any of our valued customers. This includes hands on training in: inventory exceptions, packing, loading, delivery, property protection, soft skills and paperwork training. 

We also require all our service crew members to pass a 5-star background check as part of the hiring process. Lastly, we keep safety and quality fresh on everyone’s mind by hosting weekly and monthly quality and safety meetings to ensure proper processes are being followed.   

10.Can my possessions be stored with Suddath?

Yes, and you have two options for storage – short and long-term storage. The primary difference between short (or what might be commonly referred to as ‘storage in transit’) and long-term storage (otherwise called permanent storage) is the timeframe for which your household items will be stored. However, for interstate moves, it’s important to note that short-term storage caps at 180 days. 

In either case, your items will be stored in a fully-enclosed vault within a warehouse. With vault storage, our warehouse staff will pad wrap your valuables and carefully store them in the container.

11.Do you have an executive move service offering?

Yes. We know that executive-level relocations require specialized attention so that employees are free to focus on their professional commitments. 12.Do you offer any discard and donation programs for our employees?

Yes. Suddath has a partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization that teams up with the relocation industry to fight hunger by collecting non-perishable food items and delivering them to food banks.

The discard and donation program is free to customers, and turns every move into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in need. Suddath helped our customers donate over 41,600 lbs. of food in 2017 through this initiative with Move For Hunger. Read more about this amazing partnership

13.Do you offer a declutter program to temporarily store items?

Yes, we offer a very flexible and affordable service. With the Suddath Declutter & Store Program, we make it easy for you to make a great impression on prospective buyers. Our Dallas movers will load and pack your excess items into one or more of our storage vaults. We then store your items in our secure warehouse until you need them delivered. According to the National Association of Realtors, on average, a staged home vs. a non-staged home will sell for up to 10% more and 95% of staged homes sell in 11 days or less, so we make it as easy for you as possible to capitalize on that.
