Recovery in Action

From hurricanes and tropical storms to wildfires and floods, a variety of natural disasters can and do occur – and we are ready. All our disaster relief and business continuity initiatives are designed to ensure that our employees, customers and communities are safe and taken care of.

We make annual financial contributions to the International Committee of the Red Cross/Red Crescent to support the front-line workers and volunteers deployed to help those in greatest need. Our employees donate and deliver emergency supplies and we volunteer our equipment and storage facilities to help multiple communities see their way safely through natural disasters to recovery.

Responding to Emergencies With a Dedicated Mobile Unit

We maintain a Suddath® emergency response team and mobilized rescue unit, standing ready to come to the immediate need of our fellow community members impacted by disasters like wildfires, storms and floods. Our volunteer teams undergo readiness training, and we maintain a 53’ mobile trailer equipped with essential equipment and supplies, including water, food, ice, grills, freezers, generators, plywood, lighting, tarps and tools.

Ensuring Relief Centers are Ready

From donating supplies and volunteering our time to sort, stock and deliver food items and personal hygiene kits, Suddath team members help to keep food banks and relief centers stocked and ready. In addition to our people volunteering their time and resources, we leverage our owned assets – including trucks, loading equipment and warehouse storage space – in support of a variety of organizations, especially when there’s a need in one of our operating markets. Serving our customers, communities and each other with the highest level of care, making lives easier by delivering in the moments that matter is our mission, and has been part of our DNA and culture for over a century.

International Crisis Intervention

When it’s not possible for our own team members or response units to be directly involved in emergency relief efforts, Suddath partners with local organizations around the globe who are able to provide essential aid on the front lines. A recent example is an increase in our annual financial commitment to the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (ICRC), with a specific drive to fund the Ukrainian Red Cross. Together, our team raised $10,000 to help ensure food and essential relief items like water and hygiene products were delivered directly to those in need.
