THE BASICS OF PET MOVING
Understand What is Associated with a Pet Relocation
Even moving with pets domestically, there are things to consider for their safe travel and regulations to follow. Be sure to work with your moving company on the pet relocation options available and document important questions like: what kind of containers will be used? Or, what type of medical requirements, such as vaccinations are necessary, especially if a pet will be traveling with other pets? These questions are amplified for international moves. Be sure to research pet regulations in your destination country. Are some pets even allowed as pets in a different region of the world? Will there be a required quarantine period upon arrival? Doing your homework will save you from a potential complication down the road.

Pet Moving FAQ
Our service offering does not include pet relocation as a singular service. We do, however, work with customers during a home move on the best options for moving with pets, often contracting with top pet movers to provide this service, while simultaneously providing one-stop-move management to simplify your move.
There are a number of issues factored into how, when and where a pet will be relocated to a new home using a service. For instance, older or larger breeds may benefit more from ground transportation, but some relocations may be overseas which would then require sea or air travel. Airlines will have certain regulations for documentation for a pet transfer and providers will need to carefully manage travel and delivery times.
Costs will truly vary depending on distance, destination, transportation selected, etc. Relocating a pet via air transportation requires special handling, specific containers and various fees for documentation that would be different than what would be needed for ground transportation. There may also be specialized equipment that you already own (for instance, large cages or tanks, etc.) that need to be moved as well. Plus, you must consider the veterinary costs for vaccinations, health certificates, check-ups and medications. Your Suddath move coordinator will guide you when working with a trusted partner to obtain an accurate quote and help facilitate your pet move.
