LONG-DISTANCE MOVING SERVICES
Moving and Packing to Fit You
Even after 100 years in the moving business, every move is still different. From small apartments to large estates, we cater to a wide range of residential moves, providing an affordable, customized move plan tailored to your requirements.
You can choose from full-service, partial and DIY packing options. With our full-service packing option, you can get the assistance you need to ensure minimal disruption. Our team uses only the best packing materials, and will come in and expertly pack up your home prior to moving. Instead of weeks of you going through your home and packing rooms one by one, it will all be packed on an expedited timeline. With our partial packing services, we will only pack the items you tell us to, whereas DIY is a self-driven packing adventure, and we show up to carefully blanket wrap all your furniture and load everything onto the truck on moving day.
Long-Distance Moving Coordinators
All moves are assigned a dedicated move coordinator, whose job it is to expertly guide you through the long-distance moving process, and make sure to provide you with tips, visibility and peace-of-mind. You can relax during your journey to your new home knowing that your items have the highest level of care. Our assigned move coordinator will stay in constant contact with you throughout the move, ensuring you are kept up to date every step of the way.

LONG-DISTANCE MOVING FAQ
You have most likely heard of Atlas Van Lines or seen a truck on the road at some point. Atlas is represented across the country by a partnership of independently owned moving companies, or “agents” who work together as a network to fulfill moves across the country. This partnership gives Suddath the ability to reach all states, cities and towns across the United States.
Since it’s impossible for any moving company to have locations across the country, the partnership within Atlas makes it possible for us to help you move anywhere in the country. While Suddath may have a branch in your town, we may not have a branch in the city you are moving to. Therefore, Suddath would reach out to one of our trusted Atlas partners to help in fulfilling the second half of the move at your destination. Because that company at your destination is also a Atlas agent, we can be sure that they follow the same stringent training, safety and licensing regulations, and typically, we work with them regularly.
The first and foremost thing is always training and investment in our people. We believe that by investing the time, effort and money in our crew members and employees, that will pay off tenfold with customers.
But we also start off by taking a detailed inventory of your home and items. That way, we can make sure the goods that we're taking possession of are detailed accordingly, and then checked off when they’re delivered to your new home. After making an inventory, we pad the furniture in your home to protect it, and make sure everything is packed properly in the truck.
In the rare occurrence that you will have an issue, the first thing you would do is to get in touch with your move coordinator. The coordinator will work with you in getting the claim notification to you. It’s an electronic submission, so you're able to file it online, and at that point you'll be turned over to our claims team, who will bring your claim to a resolution.
One important thing to read up on prior to your move is valuation coverage. Movers are required to offer it, and Suddath offers a standard 60 cents per pound. Since this is just based on weight (so something light and expensive may only be worth 60 cents or $1.20) some people choose to look into traditional insurance. Legally, your moving company cannot sell you insurance, so you will have to look into what your homeowners insurance coverage is, or outside insurance.
Most of the time, yes. During peak moving season, which is May through September, we advise that you reach out as early as possible. Typically, for a long distance move this is going to be around six to eight weeks in advance. Our move coordinators will work closely with you to ensure we’re able to secure the move dates that best suit you and your family.
