Richard Reyes did a great job with coordinating the move. I had my car shipped and that went very smoothly. The packing and unloading of the vehicle went smoothly. I was impressed how quickly the truck arrived. Debris pick-up came quickly and carted off the many boxes we had. My only concern with the move was with the packing of some items. Many plastic boxes were not packed fully and thus they got crushed by the weight of the overlying boxes. Parts were sometimes separated making it hard to find them (should tape to the item). Some items were not labelled correctly, making it hard to find them. Some very small items were wrapped up in paper and we were lucky to not miss some of these items as they were difficult to tell apart from empty “filler” paper. I think the packers need to put more emphasis on quality and less on speed. I would have given a 5/5 if packing had gone better. Lastly, the good news from packing is our high-value items all arrived without damage.

We chose Suddath because of the several moving companies we contacted for quotes, we were most impressed with Joaquin Guzman, his professionalism and his unfazed responses to questions which we expected would be difficult. The quoted amount was very reasonable as well, and Suddath and United Van Lines committed to the amount based on the virtual survey. Another key point was that because this was a sudden move and so we started the process relatively late, some moving companies were not able to accommodate our tight move-out schedule, but Suddath went out of their way to work with us. Joaquin was very reasonable about changes we made after the process started, for example with adding more items than we initially realized we had. The teams that did the packing and unpacking were professional and courteous. Initially we were somewhat intimidated by the prospect of this move, but pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be easier and cheaper than we expected. Thanks – Joaquin and Suddath!

We have dedicated time in our Suddath University crew curriculum for learning how to move items during a long-distance move, especially specialty items. We teach our long-distance movers how to properly protect, move and set up these items, using our wide range of equipment. At Suddath, our drivers attend our own week-long training curriculum called Suddath University, where they are put through rigorous training on how to safely move your belongings across great distances.

If you’re unable to take certain things with you on your long-distance move, we can help you take care of those items. We have 227,000 square feet of storage space in The Bay Area, and we’re able to store your household belongings securely with us at any point before, during or after your move cross country. Where the climate necessitates it, many of our storage facilities offer climate-controlled storage for long-term or storage in transit, and all you need to do is inquire if that is an option when reaching out to us.

Driving your vehicle during your interstate move may not be feasible due to time constraints and distance. Your move coordinator can facilitate car transport to your new home as part of your moving plan.
A boat often requires special equipment and techniques to transport to its new location, whether it be a marina, your home or a storage facility. Our trusted partners can assist with this task during your long-distance move.
There are some special pieces that require something different than a cardboard box for packing. Our team is trained to be able to build custom containers to safely pack and transport items that may need specific care.

From the first location to your new home, Suddath uses high-quality floor protection and door jamb protection. This way, we carefully avoid scratching floors and doorways. We also pad and un-pad all of your furniture in and outside of the home during the loading and delivery process.
While most long-distance moving companies rely solely on physical tracking methods, we take it a step further. Our technology provides GPS location services by way of our drivers’ electronic logging device. This way, we know exactly where your items are at all times.
For customers who use our storage facilities, we use a state-of-the-art warehouse management system to allow us to scan every item as it arrives at the warehouse. With this technology, we know the location of your belongings, in real-time. This technology even includes a client portal for you to access online and see your inventory’s location in real-time.
Every Suddath driver is interstate qualified. They must complete the same qualification process for local and long-distance moves. We also enforce strict compliance with safety by putting all of our drivers through an in-depth background checking process. This process includes drug screening, criminal records, and driving records.
All Suddath team members who enter a customer’s home are required to display their crew ID number. This number indicates that they’ve completed our intense screening process and have been fully compliant with our safety processes. While some van operators may be contractors, they will have completed and passed the same background screening and safety training as our salaried employees. The van operators who are contractors are indistinguishable from our salaried employees, and function as small businesses. Often, we have worked with these drivers for decades.
Starting as early as possible is usually best. Ideally, this would happen no later than two months before your desired move date. If you have less time than that before you need to move, don’t worry. You will be automatically provided with a $0.60 per lb. valuation, free of charge. However, we are happy to provide additional valuation coverage to every customer that wants more protection. One thing you should keep in mind is that valuation coverage is not insurance. In order to procure insurance for your interstate move, you will need to work through a licensed insurance company.
