Move Long-Distance in The Bay Area with an Industry Leader
A century of moving experience. Suddath’s experience in the global moving and storage industry has allowed us to build a reputation as a trustworthy, considerate and reliable moving company in both the San Jose Bay area and longer domestic distances.
Background-checked crew with 250+ training hours. While many people often move within their local area, a long-distance move involves a completely different set of needs, logistics for getting your items quickly and safely where they need to go, and a more experienced team of cross country movers. Suddath® is home to fully-vetted drivers who understand that a long-distance move requires more understanding and preparation. It is our top priority to make sure you have peace of mind while we safely deliver your items.

TRUST GOES A LONG WAY
Ramon V, Branden B, and Rocky Z were Rockstar pack and load team during my move. They were professional and very comedic, which is great during a stressful move day. Hopefully you include these guys in your new hire orientation on how to interact and handle customers. The moving coordination team on the other hand is blown – I felt like someone should of paid me based on how many times I needed to call them to fill out my HOA paperwork and send to my HOA management company.

Suddath did a fabulous job with my move. Fernando led the stellar team of Ismael B. , Ramon V. , James, and James the driver. I would use this team again for future moves and highly recommend them.

Juan (Ortega), Felipe (A.), and Jesse were a terrific team! Extremely polite, personable, helpful, and they packed our containers like brilliant puzzle masters. Our coordinator, Rachel Estrada (with backup provided by Richard Reyes) was also exceptional and we are highly appreciative! This is our second move using Suddath, and both times we received unrivaled service. Bravo to this company and their employees/associates.

Worked with Daniel for our move from San jose to Texas. He definitely had the details down to the wire and made sure the initial quote to booking process was smooth. Hoping the rest of the move is as smooth as well.

I ended up not relocating (life happens!) but Danny Diaz was really helpful in getting me a very detailed quote and then working with me to bring the weight and price down. He was always available, friendly, and accommodating. I would absolutely hire Suddath if/when I end up moving long distance.

Danny Diaz was our relocation consultant, and he was excellent! He took care of everything quickly and answered all of our questions. He even called us on a weekend to review our quotes. We truly appreciated all of his hard work, and made choosing Suddath/United Van lines easy!

I would highly recommend Suddath & Allied Van Lines. Moving across the country can be stressful, but the service provided was top class. This included an accurate estimate & organization with Joaquin, to the professionalism of the movers (both teams on the West & East coast), to the moving support by Jessica, to the transport of my SUV. Thank you, and I would certainly use the service again should it be needed.

Moving always makes me nervous, so I asked a close friend for a recommendation–and he used Suddath twice in the past year and expressed a lot of confidence in how they operate. Now I understand why! Suddath helped us relocate from SF to LA and they did an incredible job from start to finish. The virtual tour was a breeze; communication up until the move date, throughout, and even after was fluid; our packing and loading team was very efficient; and most importantly, all of our household goods made it safely and intact without a single item breaking. I highly recommend Suddath and will certainly reach out to them again for any future moves!

Dedicated Bay Area Move Coordinators
Moving long distance can be even more stressful than a local move, and we make it our goal to take as much of that stress off your shoulders as possible. One of the things that makes Suddath stand out from other long-distance moving companies is that when you choose Suddath to move you to a new city, state, or country, our first step is to assign a move coordinator to you.
This coordinator will be a single point of contact for you during the entire cross-country moving process and will work with you to arrange all of the steps in a long-distance move. Your move coordinator knows exactly what steps to take and when to take them.
Professional Services for Any Need
When you’ve been moving people for an entire century, you learn how to move just about anything. Our team can expertly handle pianos, fine art, wine collections, cars, boats, and other precious or delicate items. We specialize in providing customized crating and packaging for these items.
Not only can we expertly move these items, we can also professionally store them with special attention to temperature-sensitive items. Our San Jose warehouse has 227,000 square feet of secure, fully-enclosed and locked vault storage.
250+ Hours of Dedicated Training
We have dedicated time in our Suddath University crew curriculum for learning how to move items during a long-distance move, especially specialty items. We teach our long-distance movers how to properly protect, move and set up these items, using our wide range of equipment. At Suddath, our drivers attend our own week-long training curriculum called Suddath University, where they are put through rigorous training on how to safely move your belongings across great distances.
Flexible Storage Solutions
If you’re unable to take certain things with you on your long-distance move, we can help you take care of those items. We have 227,000 square feet of storage space in The Bay Area, and we’re able to store your household belongings securely with us at any point before, during or after your move cross country. Where the climate necessitates it, many of our storage facilities offer climate-controlled storage for long-term or storage in transit, and all you need to do is inquire if that is an option when reaching out to us.
SPECIALIZED LONG-DISTANCE MOVING SERVICES
Driving your vehicle during your interstate move may not be feasible due to time constraints and distance. Your move coordinator can facilitate car transport to your new home as part of your moving plan.
A boat often requires special equipment and techniques to transport to its new location, whether it be a marina, your home or a storage facility. Our trusted partners can assist with this task during your long-distance move.
There are some special pieces that require something different than a cardboard box for packing. Our team is trained to be able to build custom containers to safely pack and transport items that may need specific care.
Ensure your furry family member also has a stress-free long-distance moving experience. We will coordinate with trusted Suddath partners who specialize in safe and secure interstate pet relocations.
LONG-DISTANCE MOVING RESOURCES
SAN JOSE LONG-DISTANCE MOVING FAQ
From the first location to your new home, Suddath uses high-quality floor protection and door jamb protection. This way, we carefully avoid scratching floors and doorways. We also pad and un-pad all of your furniture in and outside of the home during the loading and delivery process.
While most long-distance moving companies rely solely on physical tracking methods, we take it a step further. Our technology provides GPS location services by way of our drivers’ electronic logging device. This way, we know exactly where your items are at all times.
For customers who use our storage facilities, we use a state-of-the-art warehouse management system to allow us to scan every item as it arrives at the warehouse. With this technology, we know the location of your belongings, in real-time. This technology even includes a client portal for you to access online and see your inventory’s location in real-time.
Every Suddath driver is interstate qualified. They must complete the same qualification process for local and long-distance moves. We also enforce strict compliance with safety by putting all of our drivers through an in-depth background checking process. This process includes drug screening, criminal records, and driving records.
All Suddath team members who enter a customer’s home are required to display their crew ID number. This number indicates that they’ve completed our intense screening process and have been fully compliant with our safety processes. While some van operators may be contractors, they will have completed and passed the same background screening and safety training as our salaried employees. The van operators who are contractors are indistinguishable from our salaried employees, and function as small businesses. Often, we have worked with these drivers for decades.
Starting as early as possible is usually best. Ideally, this would happen no later than two months before your desired move date. If you have less time than that before you need to move, don’t worry. Suddath has been serving as long-distance movers in San Jose for 18 years. No matter how short your timeline is, we can help you get it done on time.
We have created a detailed moving checklist to help you decide what tasks you should be completing and when. When you begin working with your dedicated move coordinator, they will customize a timeline and checklist for your unique moving needs.
You will be automatically provided with a $0.60 per lb. valuation, free of charge. However, we are happy to provide additional valuation coverage to every customer that wants more protection. One thing you should keep in mind is that valuation coverage is not insurance. In order to procure insurance for your interstate move, you will need to work through a licensed insurance company.
Learn more about your valuation coverage options in our blog post on the subject.
