TRUST GOES A LONG WAY
We had a great experience. Craig and Kristy at the Suddath office were both great to work with. Brett our driver was very professional and considerate. The crews on both ends were friendly and efficient. Our truck arrived at the early end of our arrival window. Our belongings were handled with care and we had no issues with damage to our belongings or our home. Highly recommend.

Team effort from Eric, Robin, Belinda, and Erynn. Fantastic work, really impressed with the work ethic and communication. Would be happy to use the Suddath team again.
The service was great very professional staff
Jim Murray and Brenda Menendez did a fantastic job of bidding and coordinating the tough pre-move process seem easy. Then on move day, Marc and his crews were timely, conscientious and considerate in all respects when loading our furniture in late September, transporting it across state, and unloading it the next morning, placing the items in our new home. The coordination between crewmembers during loading and unloading was impressive. Obviously seasoned teams, motion and effort were not wasted. Furniture appropriately wrapped. No nicks in walls or corners, going or coming. We had solicited bids from three companies, the bids were close, and Suddath/United had the middle (unfixed) bid but gave us the greatest comfort level based on professionalism during the bidding process. Then we received money back because the weight was less than estimated when bidding. Honest bunch. Overall, a good experience. Without question, we’d use them again.
Suddath made our move to Chicago easy and, actually, almost fun. The people were incredibly friendly and professional. First there was Craig, who came out to assess our goods and estimate the moving cost. Craig was thorough and complete, gave me some tips and ideas on items that I was packing myself, and was accurate with his assessment. Then there was Penny and the packers – they were also quick, and so friendly and personable. I discovered on the receiving end how good they are at their jobs, as not a thing was scratched or broken. Dennis was the lead on our move – he is very organized, and, again, professional and friendly. He walked us through the process and everything happened on time and exactly as he said it would. The moving crews on both ends were so efficient and hardworking. They walk thru after everything is off the truck and make sure that things are placed exactly how I wanted them, and that was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend them. Thanks so much for a fantastic job!
Everyone was extremely helpful and skilled. We appreciate the hard work and would highly recommend Suddath Relocation Systems. Elaine Bagby did a great job of coordinating the move and was always available for help.
Ashley Winfrey was amazing! So happy I went with Suddath instead of competitor. Service was outstanding. I’ve worked with a few movers in the past (for clients) but Ashley is just above and beyond. Such a stressful time. But Suddath/ Ashley helped me survived it. Thank you!
I was representing Margo Smith during delivery. James and Mike did a very good job ensuring items were accounted for, treated each item with care while moving and very nice & professional. There was yellow and orange label items. The office only gave Mike & James the yellow item inventory list. Quick thinking they created new list for the orange items to minimize any delays.
Worked primarily with Ted Simmons and he did a great job getting us something very good people! The crew was polite and helpful!
LONG-DISTANCE MOVING SERVICES
Safe and Secure Storage
If you’re unable to take certain things with you on your long-distance move, we can help you store your household belongings securely with us at any point before, during or after your move. In locations where the climate necessitates it, we have climate- and temperature-controlled storage—stabilizing humidity and seasonal changes. If you’re storing items for a long period of time, or if you need protection from radical temperature extremes, like a cold Minnesota winter, temperature-controlled storage solutions are great options.
Dedicated Minneapolis Move Coordinators
With a century of experience and over 54,000 domestic moves per year, there won’t be any surprises that your Suddath team hasn’t managed before.
Our moves run smoothly because of our personalized service starting with a dedicated single point of contact. Your Suddath move coordinator will manage every aspect of your relocation – estimating and planning, packing and delivery details and any other unique circumstances that arise. Having this expert by your side frees up your time to focus on learning about and getting acclimated to your new destination.
A Highly Trained, Fully-Vetted Moving Team
It’s important to know that your possessions are being protected and valued every step of the way during a long-distance move.
Every team member you interact with has passed our rigorous background check before ever working on a customer’s move. Each Suddath team member is also educated at Suddath University. While in school, they receive in-depth training and education in logistics, moving, and relocation. It’s part of what makes us one of the highest rated long-distance movers in Minneapolis.
America’s #1 Cross-Country Mover
Suddath is part of United Van Lines – America’s #1 van line and agent network. Since no individual long-distance moving company has enough locations to cover the entire United States, like-minded companies partner together to complete long-distance moves.
By partnering with United, we can ensure every partner is highly vetted, following the same safety standards we do – fully background-checked crews, drug-tested drivers – and exemplary training. Unaffiliated moving companies take risks with your belongings, by potentially handing them off to fly-by-night movers.
Your move will be supported entirely by a Suddath move coordinator. They will provide you with updates and the peace-of-mind of knowing that someone is watching over your move and belongings.

Our team can carefully store your household goods, even temperature-sensitive items like art, antiques or wine collections. Suddath can safely pack, move, and store any of your household goods with care and attention.

MINNEAPOLIS LONG-DISTANCE MOVING FAQ
We offer both in-home surveys and virtual walk-throughs to provide estimates for long distance moves. A Suddath team member will go through your home with you room by room to assess what needs to be moved. They will perform the walk-through at a time that is convenient for you. If you choose an in-home estimate, we will set an appointment with you at your home. If you prefer our virtual walk-through, you will simply use your smartphone or tablet to give our team a video walk-through of your home.
Once the walk-through of your choice is complete, you will have two options:
A non-binding estimate - this estimate is based on the total weight of your shipment. Keep in mind that we will not know the exact weight until moving day when all your items are loaded onto the truck.
A binding estimate - the cost of your move is provided up front. So, if the final weight is above or below the estimate, you will only pay the rate we quoted to you.
This is an important question to ask. It’s unfortunate, but the reality is that there are many Minneapolis moving companies that are not properly insured, especially for long-distance moves.
The first step is to pay close attention to the quote process. All moving companies must perform a home walkthrough prior to the day of your move. It is not legal to provide a quote without the walkthrough. If a moving company is offering you pricing before performing a walkthrough, then they are not in compliance with the law. If the company is unwilling to commit to a specific price or if they offer vague pricing options, we recommend finding a different moving company in the Minneapolis area.
Perform online research through reputable, third-party websites. Once you have read through Google reviews, visit the websites of independent organizations like the Better Business Bureau (“BBB”). They can verify that the companies you are considering are established and accredited. The BBB website provides access to complaints and responses from the moving company. This can provide insight into how the company responds when their customers are unhappy with the services they received.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, or FMCSA, is another valuable source of information. This organization’s job is to make sure that all commercial carrier vehicles that meet certain requirements have a Department of Transportation (DOT) number. Once you have the DOT number, head over to the FMCSA website and look up the moving company’s compliance. You can also ask the moving company directly for their (DOT) number.
Finally, be sure to ask your mover for a record of all of the accreditations they have earned and the industry associations they have. And, don’t forget to request their insurance information to be sure it’s up to date. Any reputable moving company is accustomed to supplying this information to its customers and will do so willingly.
Ideally, we recommend that you begin the process no later than two months before your desired move date. It’s not uncommon for things to change once you begin the process and starting in advance will give you plenty of time to manage any unexpected issues or developments.
Have less time than that before you need to move? You’re in the right place. Suddath has over 100 years of experience helping families move long distances. We can help you navigate your timeline with an optimized move plan.
You will be automatically provided with a $0.60 per lb. valuation, free of charge. However, we are happy to provide additional valuation coverage to every customer that wants more protection. One thing you should keep in mind is that valuation coverage is not insurance. In order to procure insurance for your move, you will need to work through a licensed insurance company.
Learn more about your valuation coverage options in our blog post on the subject.
