June 30, 2022Here we are, weeks later (our shipment was picked up May 23rd), with no word on when our home goods will arrive. We have left multiple emails with ZERO responses, and when we call, we are told EVERY TIME they will look into our shipment and call us back with an update within 24 hours. Guess how many call-backs we have actually gotten? ZERO! I’m starting to suspect our entire life goods are lost. Worst movers ever. Avoid at all costs.

A month later, realized $16K+ in jewelry had been stolen, including an engagement ring (pre-proposal), engineering ring, NCAA ring, and earrings that were a birthday present. Organized crime at its finest – the company should be ashamed of itself for hiring these criminals. No remorse, no commitment to resolution, no accountability. Not only was their monetary theft, but all the sentimental value was stolen as well. Please stay clear of this company and its nefarious Northern VA crew.

March 11, 2022Suddath lost $900 worth of my possessions. Despite this, I could have written a positive review if Suddath had taken responsibility. Unfortunately, the company rebuffed me at every turn and claimed there was nothing it could do. (Of course there was: repayment.) My items had been in long-term storage in a warehouse owned by a company that Suddath bought in 2016. Less than two months later, the monthly rate went up 50 percent, described by Suddath as a “relatively minimal” increase. I complained that I had chosen this warehouse based on a much lower rate and that this was an unacceptable increase. They agreed to keep the old rate for 18 months. About a year later, they closed the warehouse. I had less than a month to arrange from abroad to have move my goods moved to a new storage provider. The new company sent photos after the transfer and I saw that my largest and most valuable item was missing. Suddath had stored it separately and forgotten to include it. Luckily, I noticed in time, and the new company went back to pick it up. When I moved back to the country years later, I saw my stored goods in person for the first time. My bed, mattress and box spring were missing. The new storage company said these items had not been given to them during the transfer, and the paperwork from both companies backed that up. Suddath took no responsibility and did not offer a penny in compensation; it would not even consider it. I filed a claim, emailed with three people and left messages. They kept telling me to file a claim with the company that had _received_ my goods after Suddath’s warehouse closed — even though that company played no part in the loss. While I understand that officially my rights were transferred along with the goods, I expect a company that wants to keep its customers to provide some leeway, recognize a costly error when it has committed one, and make it up somehow. If it had worked with me, I would have written a very different review despite the loss.

March 3, 2022It pains me to even give one star but apparently it was mandatory to write a review. These movers damaged the outside of my home with the moving truck, the inside of my home with their carelessness, they took forever to pack b/c showing up late and taking 1.5 hour lunches, posting on FB and socializing on their phones was more important. Now fast forward to the actual move. I’ve been lied to multiple times as to when my items were “scheduled to arrive” when I know 100% my items have arrived. My items have been sitting in a warehouse for more than a week and now I will not receive my items by the date provided by YOUR company! I get an insulting offer of $247 to file an inconvenience claim for the delay. I have four people that purchased plane tix to fly in and help me unpack–based off of your timeline that will not happen now. I can’t get my items and they will sit there longer. Only b/c of my being the squeaky wheel about trying to get my goods was it discovered that three crates had not even left my original state! I am beside myself with your company and you have no idea the stress and strain you have now put on three families due to your company’s repeated failures. I do not want your $247, I want my household goods that are just sitting and sitting on my scheduled date.

November 17, 2021Robbie and Steve were awesome. I used Steve twice and both times he gave me the lowest quote possible. Robbie was the truck driver. When my couch wouldn’t fit through the front door, he figured out a way to hoist it up over the 2nd floor balcony and get it in! Had they not been able to get it in, it would have to have gone back into storage. That cost would have been in the $1000’s. Thank you Robbie and Steve and Bonnie for your attention and care.

August 30, 2021I have moved seven times over the last 11 years, and this was by far the worst experience I have had. I am empathetic to the fact that there is a shortage of workers, but the current status of my belongings makes it seem that they were literally dumped out of a truck. My washer is broken and inoperable, almost every wooden item in my home is either dented, cracked, or completely broken (not an exaggeration). And finally our two piece king box springing was missing one of the sides. They were able to locate it in the warehouse, but we are still waiting for it to be delivered almost a week later. Not impressed and I will forward all information to both local transportation office and my representatives. Our Marines Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen and women, deserve better treatment than this.

May 9, 2021Upon completing my move from Mozambique to Washington, DC, my customer representative (Employee) acknowledged that she had overcharged me $893 in the final bill. That was in January 2021. It is now mid-May 2021, and despite repeated (!!) promises, the amount has not been credited to me. While I sympathize with the extra strain of Covid on Suddath, I am at loss to understand why the money has not been transferred. I paid over $80,000 to Suddath during 2016-2020, and I feel bullied when pa payment is promised repeatedly but not made.

June 2, 2020Overall the move went smoothly with good customer service. The claims process was initially smooth as well, however, they only initially offered compensation for some of the items. I pointed out the ommission and they reluctantly corrected it. However, they refused to reimburse for several items when I used their own inspector’s report against them. The adjuster has since ignored my attempts to contact her for about 6 months. She has refused to tell me if my claim is closed or if they are still reviewing it. It’s been almost a year since I moved. I understand they can’t honor every claim and need to be fair, but refusing to clearly communicate and completely ignoring some claimed items is very frustrating and disrespectful. It’s too bad the one bad apple ruined my experience with this company. I hate to complain but I have little choice at this point but to run it up the flag pole.

The truck driver (Terry) and the teams who helped him were very efficient and careful as well as polite and friendly. The stickers on each item being checked with the list upon arrival is good, but wasn’t as carefully done as it should be. Several items had the same number . The packing team also went through my things so rapidly that i missed seeing where some things went.
