JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2017) – In late 2016, the industry was shocked by the closure of Office Movers in Washington D.C. Suddath® recognized the opportunity and put together a strategy to fill the tremendous and unexpected void in the market. Our efforts focused on increasing local staffing and assets to meet the needs of customers who were negatively impacted by the Office Movers closure. Following this we put together a strategic recruiting effort to attract and on board former Office Movers executives and employees who were displaced by the sudden closure of the well-respected commercial moving powerhouse.

Now over two months into our D.C. expansion effort, we are pleased to have added some of the very best talent in the industry. We are confident that these key new hires will strengthen growth in D.C. and bring tremendous value to our customers. These additions combined with our acquisition of the Secor companies last year, demonstrate our strong commitment to market leadership in the Washington D.C. marketplace as we advance towards our Vision 2020 goals.

Industry veteran James H. Durfee has been named Vice President and Managing Director of Suddath Workplace Solutions in the Washington D.C. market. Jim brings almost 40 years of experience in the business to Suddath, primarily in a senior management capacity with Office Movers, Inc. In this new role, Jim will lead our commercial moving division in the D.C. marketplace. Jim’s primary responsibilities will include recruiting, training and managing our commercial sales and operations teams. Additionally, Jim will work with local and corporate leaders to help build the Suddath brand within the market. Jim looks forward to putting his extensive industry expertise to work for Suddath as we continue to grow and drive innovation for the moving and relocation industry.

We have also added several new members to our sales team in Washington D.C. These skilled professionals will work to develop new client relationships and project engagements under the tutelage of Jim Durfee.

We are happy to announce the hiring of Richard Snyder as Director of Commercial Operations for the Washington D.C. market. Richard is an industry veteran with more than 30 years’ experience. From his beginnings in 1982 as an Owner Operator for Security Storage Company of Washington (which would later become a Suddath location), Richard quickly moved into a management role. With his focus on all things operations, he became a highly sought after presence in the market with several reputable firms. He’s now come full circle, coming from The Kane Companies to join the Suddath team. Richard’s drive to win is reflected in his years of success, including outside the office, where he is a competitive runner.

Pam Privitera joins the Suddath family as an account executive in Washington D.C. Pam is an industry veteran with over 13 years of moving and relocation industry experience. Pam’s previous focus was on managing Federal and local Government accounts at Office Movers. Pam thrives on the challenge of planning and managing library and file room relocations. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends boating in the Chesapeake Bay.

Calvin Trivers has joined the Suddath team in Washington D.C. as an account executive. Calvin has 23 years of expertise in the commercial moving industry with Office Movers and is an expert in a variety of categories, including legal, biotech, manufacturing, industrial, warehouse and library relocations. Calvin is a certified commercial and industrial consultant (COIC). His training and experience help him recognize techniques and strategies many movers tend to overlook. Calvin is a huge sports fan, an avid golfer and the father of three.

Another new addition to the Washington D.C. account executive team, Ed Bacon brings with him 27 years of office moving knowledge and experience. Before joining Suddath, Ed wore several different hats with Office Movers. Starting out as a “boots on the ground” mover, promoted to supervisor and eventually Senior Account Manager specializing in major law firms and fortune 500 companies in the metropolitan D.C. area. An avid music lover and former musician, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and traveling.

New account executive, William Rawls has a reputation in the industry as a problem solver and solution provider. He spent the past eight years involved in the commercial moving industry in various positions. From commercial furniture to move crates, Will has the expertise required to give a client a product that matches their vision. In fact, it was this personal vision of customer service that drew William to Suddath. Outside of work, Will enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys watching football, baseball and college basketball. He is also an avid sports memorabilia collector.

Suddath has also added industry veteran Jim Carney to the account executive team in D.C. Jim built his career in the moving industry, starting during his high school and college years. From there he worked his way up through the ranks in the commercial moving industry over the course of a 20-year career with Office Movers. Jim’s “ground up” experience gives him a great understanding of all aspects of the commercial move process.  Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and kayaking.

These new sales professionals join Suddath veterans Keith Baker and Sid Sillah as they work to expand our brand in the Washington D.C. area. This expanded sales team will be aided in their efforts by an experienced support team, who also join us after transitioning from Office Movers. These include Senior Project Manager Weldon Jenkins, Special Services Manager Bruce Judd, Commercial Dispatch Supervisor Steve Corbett and project coordinators Cheryl Sutton and Bonnie Cabrera.
