The term Brexit, a portmanteau of the words “Britain” and “exit,” has become a buzz word in the relocation industry. While a quick Google search yields more than a million results, many still wonder what does this mean, and who will it impact?
Brexit officially refers to the United Kingdom’s (UK’s) decision to leave the European Union (EU). Britain entered the EU, known at the time as the European Economic Community, or the Common Market, on Jan. 1, 1973. While all the ramifications of this decision are still unclear, it is evident that this departure will have a far-reaching impact on transferees living in or relocating to the UK and the EU.
On January 25, 2018, Lexicon® Relocation, a subsidiary of Suddath®, attended RES Connect in Berlin, Germany.
